Nashville, Tenn. – Pinecastle Records is thrilled to announce the release of Tidalwave Road’s newest single “Low Down & Lonesome,” now available on all digital and streaming platforms. The edgy track serves as the lead single from the band’s highly anticipated debut full-length album, set to drop in 2025. Bluegrass enthusiasts can listen to the full song HERE.
Tidalwave Road shares, “‘Low Down & Lonesome’ tears open the circle of emotions that a couple goes through as their relationship ends. As one heart feels emptiness to the point of almost succumbing to death from an unexpected broken heart, then rising to the top of a mountain with a new love, the other heart starts out happy and tumbles to sadness. We were immediately attracted to this song. Drop D tuning has always been conducive to Ben and Carlie’s vocals, and the melody gave us freedom to explore the bluesy side of Bluegrass with our instrumentation.”
Co-written by acclaimed songwriters Rick Lang and Jeff Daugherty, the single showcases the unique artistry of Tidalwave Road. Produced by Steve Wilson (of Wilson Banjo Co.), the track highlights Ben Parker’s raw lead vocals and banjo, Carlie Parker’s harmonies and mandolin, Daniel Parker’s steady bass, and Robert Sulfridge’s dynamic guitar. “Low Down & Lonesome” dives deep into the rollercoaster of emotions that accompany the end of a relationship. From heart-wrenching lows to triumphant highs, the song captures the stark contrast between two broken hearts finding their way forward. It follows the band’s successful EP, The Bonfire Sessions, which captured widespread attention after the group’s victory at the 2023 SamJam Festival Band Competition—a moment that kickstarted their journey with Pinecastle Records.
Rick Lang says, “The song is reminiscent of some of the classic first generation Bluegrass songs in the Bill Monroe era. It's very relatable, most everybody still deals with it at some point in their life.” Jeff Daugherty adds, “It is a song written with the classic sound in the forefront: hard-driving & unapologetically bluegrass.”
Hailing from Williamsburg, Kentucky, Tidalwave Road has roots steeped in the rich tradition of Bluegrass, passed down through generations in the heart of Daniel Boone Country. The band’s upcoming album builds on this foundation, blending their signature sound with fresh songwriting collaborations that push the boundaries of their style, while staying true to their Appalachian heritage. Fans can expect a standout collection of songs that solidify Tidalwave Road’s place as one of Bluegrass music’s most exciting rising acts. Their debut full-length album promises to feature more of the heartfelt storytelling and masterful musicianship that listeners have come to love.
